World: China sees January-April beer output decline due to anti-Covid measures
Chinese beer output in April was 25.87 mln hl, minus 18% (Covid impact), January-April production totalled 107.47 mln hl, minus 6.2% y/y, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their June report.
Czech beer sales 2021 totalled 19.6 mln hl, minus 2.8% y/y.
Dutch beer sales in January-March increased by 1.6%; on-premise sales saw a 7.7% decrease, off-premise saw a plus of 6.5%.
German beer sales totalled 7.27 mln hl in April, plus 4.7%% y/y, January-April sales volume reached 26.0 mln hl, plus 5.1% y/y. Domestic sales were up 10.4% in April, 7.2% in January-April. Beer exports in April dropped 17.8%, after the closure of the Russian market. The beer market is still 13% below the level of 2019.
Ukrainian beer output was 1.71 mln hl in the first quarter of the year, minus approximately 50%. Malt production totalled 32,800 tonnes, minus 40.8%.
U.S. domestic beer sales in April were 13.7 mln bbls., minus 5.9%; January-April sales totalled 52.5 mln hl, minus 3.6%. U.S. beer imports were 3.54 mln bbls. in March, plus 16.7% y/y; January-March import volume totalled 9.51 mln bbls., plus 9.7%. Share of Mexican beer in January-March was 7.6 mln bbls., plus 21.9%.
International brewing groups reported the following sales increases: Carlsberg + 8.6%, Heineken + 5.2%, AB InBev +2.8%, Efes (without Ukraine) + 17%, Ambev + 3.6% (all positive volume results in January-March 2022).
